Here is my 3rd and (hopefully final) Xena costume!!!! Yay! I wore this to the Renaissance Faire. Okay, so maybe some of you might have wondered where I've been for the past few months and if I'm still making costumes....I am still, honest! I just haven't updated in so long...I'm finally getting around to it now. Plus, I just got high speed internet, it's great!!! Anyway, here is my latest costume creation, and it was a grueling process....my fingers were numb from hammering grommets and rivets (and missing and hitting my thumbs) and trying to push a needle through the five layers of suede cloth (with some pieces glued together)....But it's finished now (mostly), but I didn't even attempt to make any of the armor other than the arm braces. The arm pieces are also suede cloth, and the gold pieces are foam sheets that I painted. It laces up with grommets in the back. I was going to make boots, but I literally ran out of time....it was 3:00 AM the day of the Renaissance Faire when I was finishing it up, and I realized that I *wouldn't* have boots for the Faire the next day. That's okay though, it would have been too hot and the glue that holds the lining and suede together would have melted, and that would be quite a mess. Sometime soon I'll have do a photoshoot and take some action photos, wear my black wig, and give the camera that steely gaze Xena is known for.

That is all suede? Wow. It looks amazing. How long total did it take you to put together? Your stuff always amazes me.
I need to get started on my halloween costume, but I'm so scared I'm going to mess it up so bad. I'm going to try and make a Chiana (from farscape) costume. I've never made a corest before though. Any tips?

Hmm, I took a while to reply...(sorry!) so it's after Halloween now...how did your Halloween costume work out? For corset making tips...well, they are pretty difficult, but I would recommend taking precise measurements of your waist/hips, finding a pattern that is similar to the corset you want to make, and make a test pattern. For me, patterns never fit perfectly, I always have to make adjustments, but for a friend of mine she just made a corset like the pattern, no alterations, and it fit perfectly. Hopefully you'll be lucky! But if you have to alter it like I do, then try on your test corset, and notice where you have to either pull it in to tighten it or extend the fabric somewhat. Corsets are so difficult, because they are unique to everyone's shape, it just takes a lot of patience. Good luck, I'd love to see it when you're finished!!!!!!

A long, long, long, long time ago
Before the wind, before the snow.
Todos los asesinos tenían un espejo de cuerpo entero en su habitación, porque sería un insulto terrible para cualquiera matarle estando mal vestido.
Amazing costume, you look awesome in it!
